A plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between two fluids. This has a major advantage because the fluid is exposed to a greater surface area, which facilitates heat transfer and greatly speeds up the rate of temperature change. Plate heat exchangers are ideal for transferring heat between medium and low pressure fluids. Plate heat exchangers are made of stainless steel because of its ability to withstand high temperatures, strength and corrosion resistance.
The types of plate heat exchangers are welded, semi-welded and brazed. We can customize production according to customers' needs.
Temperature proximity (minimum difference between hot and cold stream temperatures) can be as low as 1 °C for plate heat exchangers compared to shell and tube heat exchangers where 5 °C or more is required . For the same amount of heat exchange, the size of the plate heat exchanger is smaller because the plates provide a larger heat transfer area (a large area through which heat can pass). Increasing and decreasing the heat transfer area in a plate heat exchanger is simple, by adding or removing plates in the stack.
